• Summer Workshops

In YFA’s Advanced and Beginner Summer Workshops, aspiring young storytellers aged 8-17 build skills in writing, directing, cinematography, set design special effects makeup, editing, digital effects and even acting to produce an original short film, all under the guidance of our faculty of professional filmmakers and directors.
Our Beginners Camp, is a ONE WEEK WORKSHOP where students ages 8-11 shoot, act and edit a short film written by our screenwriting students.
Our Advanced Camp is a THREE WEEK WORKSHOP where students 12-17, produce a 12-18 minute film through all 3 phases of pre-production, production and post-production, all under the guidance of our experienced award winning mentors.
Once completed, both camp films screen at our Gala Red Carpet Premiere in front of a packed theater of 300 plus friends, family and general public movie goers. It's the highlight of the calendar year!

While similar Programs throughout the country can cost thousands of dollars, YFA's Award Winning Summer Workshop is absolutely free to all who are accepted into the program.
Our "No Filmmaker Left Behind" initiative eliminates the socioeconomic barrier that prevent some from taking part. We believe that art is for everyone regardless of their income and no child should be excluded simply because of the price-tag.
Our program is one hundred percent funded through grants, sponsorships and private donors so that the only thing we require is your passion!

• 8 Week Film School

Young Filmmakers Academy's 8 Week Film School is a comprehensive film studies program specifically designed for kids and teens ages 10-17. Movies are an important part of our lives and more and more kids are becoming interested in how they are made. YFA's eight week program is designed to give your child a crash course in how to create professional movies from start to finish.
Students will re-produce a scene from a famous movie and learn by experiencing what went into that scene to make it work. From screenwriting to lighting and sound, to camera work to editing, YFA's award winning instructors will guide your child through the creative process and onto a journey of artistic expression using the cinematic arts.
Classes are held at our Lakewood Studio on Tuesday nights from 6pm-8pm and are limited to 12 students. Whether your junior Spielberg wants to direct, record sound, edit, create special effects or act, this program is guaranteed to provide them with a fun and rewarding experience in a safe and structured environment.
